About Deadpan Studio
Deadpan is the art studio of Frances Berriman.
...
I'm currently based in San Francisco, although originally I'm from Cornwall, United Kingdom.
I'm fascinated by the little things in life. I particularly like getting up close and personal with subjects, framing them in unusual ways and tight croppings, pulling them apart and exposing specific aspects, to force the viewer to look at the little details and oddities that I'm drawn to in the objects I paint. I'm heavily influenced by a rural childhood diet of fairytales, myths, horror stories and science fiction.
I work with oil paint, watercolour and gouache. I sometimes make prints.
Some of my prints are currently available at the retail location Wave in San Francisco.
Follow on instagram or tumblr for updates and work in progress. An RSS feed(?) is also available.
